Shoulder Statement

SHOULDER TITLE FINAL

I cannot get enough of the off shoulder trend. It’s sexy and carefree without showing too much skin. I’ve been shopping around for a piece to add to my own wardrobe. After a few weeks of searching, I’ve pinpointed my favorite, but here are few others that were definitely in the running.

Which one is your fave?

Manolo Blahnik //  Dune London

Last week, after setting my eyes on these babies, I could not stop thinking about them. I literally have had daydreams about prancing around in them this summer. Other than my wedding shoes, I’ve never spent more than $200 on pair of shoes and I don’t ever intend to (the Manolo Blahnik version retails for $745). So, when I came across these Dune London sandals for $69 I had to share them with you. They have a remarkably uncanny similarity, not just in color, but the silhouette is almost identical. I’m so in love.

FESTIVAL FROCKS.

Now that we’re well into spring, there’s excitement in the air. Everyone around town is buzzing about  Coachella. It’s just a few days away, but per usual, I won’t be there. No FOMO though, because it’s not really my thing.

Aside from the music, art and overpriced food– I hear the fashion is TDF (to die for!) So since I won’t be there, I’ll pretend to pack my bag and imagine myself dancing to the music in these fun and festive dresses.

Are you going to Coachella this weekend? What will you be wearing?

Peace and Love, Carina

Layered With Love.

We were invited to an art show held a few weeks ago.  Having come home straight from work that night,  I was exhausted, but was looking forward to layering (FINALLY!) Its been a sweltering summer, so I basically jump at  any chance to layer.

It isn’t normal for us to do anything eventful during the week, so we decided to enjoy our midweek outing and  turn it into a date night. After the show, we took a walk to enjoy the brisk evening air and held hands under our high top table during dinner.

Fringe Fashion.

Fringe title

I’ve always been a fan of fringe, but other than a pair of suede knee-high boots (i haven’t worn in a million years), I generally steer away from it. Knowing it’s a polarizing trend, I’ve been avoiding it…maybe even intimidated by it (i know right? ME? The girl who wears purple lipstick and sequins?!) But here’s what I’ve learned –like most statement fashion trends, keeping the look simple and understated makes the biggest impact.

Here’s a look at fringe fashion I could picture myself braving to wear. Life’s to short, Carina…just wear the damn fringe!

fringe fashion 2

  1. to-die-for suede jacket
  2. pair this with a basic black tee and booties
  3. for a cozy fall evening
  4. sexy heels to jazz up a simple LBD
  5. a bucket bag to go with everything

Fall Want List: Zara

08.16.15When shopping for the upcoming season, I spend a lot of time browsing the internet. It might sound silly, but it’s almost like doing research — I study latest trends, read fashion blogs, and peruse all my favorite stores’ websites to create a mental wish list with two categories: things I  need for the season and things that I want to have.

I shop online, but I’m the type of person who needs to try things on. I like to touch and feel everything in order to have a better understanding of how things will fit on my body. So, with my mental wish list in mind, as I find myself at different stores, I will try things on before making my purchase.

I know it sounds like a lot of work, but I’m short, curvy and busty… I HAVE to try things on.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to share my list with you, as I create them. So here are a few things from ZARA that I’ll be looking out for this season.

  1. this sexy little thing to wear with smokey eyes for date night
  2. a mustard colored hat
  3. NEED and WANT this
  4. these perfectly purple hued shoes for a pop of color
  5. a lux velvet kimono to wear with everything
  6. a very boho statement necklace
  7. love the chain detail of this casual and chic shopper
  8. a great work shoe for a girl on the go, like me!
  9. this top with a modern take on the prudish turtleneck
